Beverly, Mass.: The 2012 ECAC Division III North Championship went to top-seeded Ramapo on Saturday afternoon after the Roadrunners were able to pull off a straight-set victory over the #2 seeded Endicott Gulls .
The top-seeded Roadrunners hoisted the trophy after winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 28-26). Tournament MVP
Paul Konopacki struck a team-high ten kills, assisted on six blocks and had five digs to lead Ramapo.
The Roadrunners stifled the Endicott offense in the blocking game with 32 total blocks including, 30 assist stops at the net. Sophomore middle
Mike Kane led all players with nine assisted blocks while Konopacki and junior middle
Joel Castro each added six. Castro also had two solo blocks to himself.
Endicott seniors Jeremy Siden, Andrew Slocum, Jeremy Schlosser and Joshua Bruno all made an impact in their final games in a Gull uniform.
Siden's 12 kills were a match-high while adding five digs and a block. Defensively, Slocum kept Endicott in the match with 12 digs and a perfect reception percentage on 17 attempts. Schlosser dished out 14 assists and Bruno had a block and two kills.
Endicott junior Kevin Duggan had six kills to finish second on the team and both Lance Pepper and Mike Coniglione struck four each.
Ramapo sophomore
Jeff Jones had seven kills, six digs, and three assisted blocks. Both Castro and
Brian Colabella had five kills in the win. Ramapo setters
Harsh Prajapati and
Mike Hrehovcik combined for 31 assists. Hrehovcik also added a team-high six digs.
The Roadrunners earned a spot in the finals after defeating #4 Daniel Webster in four sets.
Endicott finishes their season 17-15 overall while Ramapo improved to 21-13 wrapping up the 2012 season.
