RAMAPO FALLS TO NJCU, TREADWELL POSTS CAREER HIGH 27 POINTS

Box Score Jersey City, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to NJAC North rival New Jersey City University tonight on the road, 81-68. The Roadrunners fall to 15-6 overall and 6-4 in the NJAC while the Gothic Knights improve to 16-5 overall and 6-4 in the conference.

Ramapo jumped out to a 4-0 on a made basket by Will Sanborn and two made foul shots by Stephon Treadwell before NJCU sank a three by Kaihrique Irick with 18:35 on the clock. The Gothic Knights took the lead on a made jumper by Walik Albright, 5-4 (17:38) and never looked back extending their lead to by as many as 17 points, 44-27 with 3:40 left in the half. The Roadrunners would cut the lead to 13, 45-32 heading into the locker room on a made three by Sanborn. The Roadrunners shot 34% (8-23) from the field in the first half while NJCU went 17-33 (51%).

In the second half, Ramapo went on a 12-4 run to cut the lead to five, capped off by two made foul shots by Treadwell, 49-44 with 16:09 left in the game. NJCU extended the lead back to seven, 51-44 (14:44) before Sanborn hit a three and later made two foul shots to come within two points of tying the game, 51-49 (14:04). NJCU then extended their lead to ten, 66-56 on a tip-in by Albright with 6:43 on the clock before taking their biggest lead of the second half, 72-58 (5:32) on a made three by Naadir Williams. The Roadrunners came within ten, 72-62 when Jermaine Emanuel sank two foul shots with 3:50 to go in the game but that is as close as Ramapo would get as NJCU would come away with the 81-68 victory.

Treadwell led the team with a career high 27 points, while he went 8-9 from the field and a perfect 11-11 from the charity stripe. He pulled down five rebounds, one steal and one block. Sanborn sank 18 points while Emanuel posted seven of his own. Ramapo shot 90% from the foul line,  27-30 while they were 19-47 from the field for a 40% shooting percentage.

The Roadrunners return to action when they host NJAC North rival #20 William Paterson University on Saturday at 3pm.
