#13 RAMAPO DOWNS RUTGERS-CAMDEN, 79-71

Box Score Camden, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team went on a 28-18 run to close out the game and rallied past Rutgers University-Camden, 79-71, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest here Saturday afternoon.

Ramapo College, ranked No. 13 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, improves to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the NJAC with its 15th consecutive victory over Rutgers-Camden. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series, 41-12.

The Scarlet Raptors fall to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC.
Leading, 51-44, the Roadrunners watched the Scarlet Raptors go on a nine-point run, including six by junior forward Robert Anders (Vero Beach, FL/Vero Beach). Ramapo regrouped to tie the game at 55-55 and, after the teams swapped the lead, the Roadrunners went ahead to stay, 60-59, on a layup by senior guard Will Sanborn (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Regional).
In a first half that featured four lead changes and three ties, Ramapo broke a 28-28 lead on a layup by junior guard Pat O'Connell (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) and tacked on another basket for a 32-28 halftime lead. Senior forward Stephon Treadwell (Newark, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) and senior forward Elgin Brown (Jersey City, NJ/Dickinson) both had six points for the Roadrunners in the opening half, while senior guard Anthony LoRusso (Mahwah, NJ/Don Bosco Prep) added five. Treadwell added six rebounds in the opening half to help the Roadrunners hold a 20-19 edge off the boards.
Senior guard Germir Pitts (Camden, NJ/Camden) had nine first-half points for the Scarlet Raptors.

The Roadrunners shot 46.4 percent from the floor (13-for-28) in the second half to finish with a 42.4 shooting percentage (25-for-59) on the day. They also shot 26-for-35 from the foul line (74.3) and, although Ramapo had one more turnover than Rutgers-Camden (23-22), it held a 47-36 advantage off the glass.

Rutgers-Camden shot 25-for-62 from the floor (40.3) in the game and 13-for-24 (54.2) from the line.

Sanborn finished with a game-high 20 points, while Brown and Treadwell both collected double-doubles. Brown had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Treadwell had 11 points and 11 boards.
LoRusso added 13 points for the Roadrunners.

Rutgers-Camden received 16 points from junior guard Brandyn Wims (Philadelphia, PA/Cardinal Dougherty), 15 from Pitts and 11 apiece from Anders and senior guard Yusuf Leary (Portland, OR/Lincoln). Junior guard Woody Redding (Philadelphia, PA/Northeast Catholic) added 10 points.

Both teams return to action with 8 p.m. NJAC road games Wednesday. Ramapo travels to Montclair State University, while Rutgers-Camden visits The College of New Jersey.
