PROFS TOP ROADRUNNERS IN NJAC MEN'S BASKETBALL ACTION

Box Score Glassboro, NJ:  The Ramapo College men's basketball team fell to the Profs of Rowan University today on the road, 78-72. The Roadrunners fall to 11-4 overall, 2-2 in the NJAC while the Profs improve to 7-7 overall, 2-2 conference. The Profs snapped Ramapo's five-game winning streak.

The Profs went up 5-2 before Ramapo took the lead with 13:14 on the clock, 8-7 on a made basket by Garret Thiel. The Roadrunners took a five point lead, 12-7 (12:12) when Demetrius Boards hit both of his foul shots. Rowan cut the lead with a three pointer, 12-10 before they took a four point lead, on a three pointer by Matt Whitworth with 5:09 left in the half. Ramapo went on a 6-0 run to go up two, 26-24 before they needed to tie the game at 28 with 2:08 on the clock on a fast break layup by Boards.  The two teams traded baskets before Rowan took a two point lead heading into the locker room, 32-30.

In the second half Rowan would lead by as many as 13, 50-37 with 13:08 left in the game before Ramapo would come back to cut the lead to six, 52-46 on a made layup by Stephon Treadwell with 11:06 on the clock. The Roadrunners would come within three points of tying the game, 58-55 (6:25) on a made three pointer by Will Sanborn. The Prof extended their lead back to seven before Garret Thiel made one of his foul shots to cut the lead to one, 65-64 with just 2:48 left in the game. A three put Rowan up by seven once again, 72-65 before Theil hit a three with 39 seconds remaining to come within four, 74-70. The Profs were able to hold onto the 78-72 victory down the stretch.

All five starters for Ramapo hit double figures in points during the game. Thiel led the Roadrunners with a double-double as he posted 18 points and 15 rebounds. Treadwell added 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals while Sanborn posted 16 points. Boards added 11 points, five rebounds and Jermaine Emanuel contributed with ten points, three assists and three steals. The Roadrunners shot 37% (26-69) from the field in the game while they shot 65% (17-26) from the foul line. 

The Roadrunners return to action when they host The College of New Jersey on Saturday, January 14th at 3:00pm.
