Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team opened the 2012 season with two wins over non-conference opponents Vassar College and Philadelphia Biblical University today at the Bradley Center. Philadelphia Biblical was ranked 14th in the ACVA preseason top 15 poll while Vassar was ranked 15th.
The Roadrunners defeated Vassar, 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15) in their first match of the day. Ramapo was led by 
Joel Castro with 13 kills on 24 attempts as he hit .375 in the match. He also posted five blocks. 
Jeff Jones added ten kills of his own while Colin McNeil posted nine kills, four digs and six blocks. 
Paul Konopacki recorded eight kills, three service aces, nine digs and three blocks. 
Aaron Kerschner led the team with 18 digs and 
Mike Hrehovcik posted a team high 38 assists.
For Vassar, Charles Caldwell led the team with 16 kills on 36 attempts as he hit .306 in the match. John Konow posted a match best 40 assists while Christian La Du added a team high ten digs.
In their victory over Philadelphia Biblical University, Ramapo posted a 3-1 (28-26,25-22,17-25,25-16) match sore. This time it was Jones that led the Roadrunners with 15 kills on 36 attempts as he hit .389 in the match. 
Brian Colabella tallied ten kills of his own and four blocks. 
Joel Castro led the team with five total blocks, six kills while Konopacki added seven kills, nine digs and two blocks. Kerschner led the team with 13 digs while Hrehovcik posted a team best 30 assists.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to Skyline rival New Jersey City University on January 28th when they take on NYU-Poly at 12:00 pm and host NJCU at 2:00 pm in their first Skyline dual meet of the 2012 season.
