Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University, 92-76 at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 13-4, 4-2 in the NJAC while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 10-7, 3-3 in the conference.
Stephon Treadwell posted a team high 24 points as he went 8-13 from the floor and a perfect 8-8 from the foul line while
Jermaine Emanuel and
Demetrius Boards each tallied double-doubles. Emanuel dished out a team high ten assists while adding 14 points and six boards. Boards posted 18 points and a team high 13 rebounds while grabbing two steals and two assists.
Will Sanborn contributed with 17 points and three steals.
The visiting Scarlet Raiders jumped out to an eight point lead, 10-2 before Ramapo went on a 12-0 run to take a 14-10 lead with 13:01 on the clock. The Roadrunners went up by as many as ten in the half, 36-26 (4:43) on a tip-in by
Rich Grant before Rutgers cut the lead to six down the stretch with two made foul shots to close out the half, 42-36.
In the second half, Sanborn hit back to back three pointers (19:04, 18:38) to go up 12, 48-36 before Boards slammed down a dunk to put the Roadrunners up 15, 54-39 with 16:52 to go. Ramapo took their biggest lead of the half, 65-43 on a made jumper and foul shot by Sanborn at 13:35 before the Scarlet Raiders shrunk the lead to 13, 82-69 with 3:30 left in the game on a made jumper by Kevin Philemon. The Roadrunners went on a 10-3 run over the final three minutes capped off by a jumper by Treadwell before Rutgers hit a three by Doze Ikwuegbu, 92-76.
The Roadrunners shot 52% (35-67) from the field and 84% (16-19) from the foul line in the game while the Scarlet Raiders shot 40% (27-66) from the field and 88% (16-18) from the foul line. Ramapo out rebounded Rutgers, 43-31. Ramap's 92 points in the game are the most the Scarlet Raiders have given up all season. Their defense has held the opposition to 63.4 points per game, the previous opponent high against the Scarlet Raiders was 75 points.
Ramapo returns to action when they travel to NJAC rival Richard Stockton on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
