Box Score Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team came back to defeat NJAC rival The College of New Jersey, 80-59 at the Bradley Center. The Roadrunners improve to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the NJAC while the Lions fall to 6-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
The Roadrunners saw a five point lead, 13-8 (15:19) become a eight point lead in favor of the Lions, 26-18 with 7:30 to go in the first half before he Roadrunners cut the lead to four, 26-22 on a made jumper by
Demetrius Boards (6:23). The Lions extended their lead to 11 on a made basket by Ryan Keegan, 39-28 (1:47) before Ramapo cut the lead to nine on two made foul shots by
Will Sanborn, 39-30 (1:27).
Sanborn recorded his own tip-in to open the second half before the two teams traded baskets the next four minutes before Ramapo cut the lead to five, 49-44 on a made jumper and foul shot by
Jermaine Emanuel with 15:03 left in the game. That started a 14-2 run that put Ramapo back in the lead, 55-51 (11:06). The Lions would tie the game, 55-55 with 9:14 on the clock but the Roadrunners would not give up the lead as they went on a 13-0 run capped off by two made foul shots by
Stephon Treadwell, 68-55 (4:58). Over the final minutes of play, Ramapo outscored TCNJ 12-4 down the stretch for the 80-59 win. The Roadrunners scored 50 points in the second half as the Ramapo defense held TCNJ to 20 points.
The Roadrunners were led by
Garret Thiel and Teadwell who each posted 19 points. Treadwell grabbed eight rebounds and was 7-11 from the floor while Thiel went 8-10 from the floor and 2-2 from the charity stripe. Sanborn posted 11 points, two assists and three rebounds while Emanuel added ten points of his own and a team high five assists.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday when they host NJAC rival Rutgers Newark University at 7:30 pm.
