Box Score Mahwah, NJ: Jennifer Albuja led the New Jersey City University Gothic Knights women's soccer team over the Roadrunners today, 3-1. NJCU remains undefeated with a school record, 9-0, 2-0 in the conference while the Roadrunners fall to 1-4-2, 0-2.
Albuja scored the game-winning goal and tacked on an insurance goal, her team leading 13th and 14th of the season, as she leads NCAA division III in goals. She also assisted on the game tying goal.
In the first half, Ramapo scored 16:18 into the game when
Samantha Belfer sent a ball through to
Rachael Viscusi who scored her first goal of the season to put the Roadrunners ahead, 1-0. The score would remain until the 77th minute when Albuja assisted on Erica Buonacquista's goal to tie the game at one all.
Albuja then took a pass from Margie Alfano in the 81st minute to slipped the ball past the Ramapo keeper to go ahead 2-1. Eight minutes later she got her own rebound on a shot off the post and hit the back of the net for NJCU's insurance goal, 3-1.
NJCU out shot Ramapo 23-14 and held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 6-5.
Talia Auslin posted eight saves while Brittany Hoffman stopped five for NJCU.
NJCU is currently ranked tenth in the NSCAA/NCAA South Atlantic Region Poll, a first in school history while they are one of 16 teams nationally that are still unbeaten and untied.
Ramapo returns to action this Saturday at 1:00pm when they host NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark University.
