Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team dropped a tough, 3-0 (23-25, 13-25, 22-25) decision to the Division I Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark tonight at the Bradley Center to wrap up the regular season standing at 17-11 overall. With the sweep, Rutgers Newark improves to 15-8 overall.
The Scarlet Raiders took game one by a slim, 25-23 behind five kills from Marcin Midura. The team combined for ten kills on 17 attempts with only one error hitting .529 in the win. Jeff Zornig dished out eight assists and Austin Pappas put away five service aces. Ramapo hit .111 with seven kills and five errors on 18 attempts as rookie
Jeff Jones led the way with three kills.
Andrew Balint assisted on seven points and
Mike Hrehovcik picked up four digs.
Ramapo fell behind two sets to none after hitting -.040 in a 13-25 loss. Pappas put away five kills and Kenneth de Groh added four while Liran Shapiro dished out six assists for the Scarlet Raiders. Ramapo picked up only one dig in the loss. Paul Konpacki and
Brian Colabella each recorded two digs.
Pappas added six kills in what turned out to be the final set of the match helping his team to a 25-22 win. The team combined hitting .500 with 12 kills on 18 attempts with three errors. Shapiro dished out ten assists and Parth Vedawala picked up a team leading two digs. Konopacki led with three kills as the team hit .130 with ten total kills on 23 attempts with seven errors. Balint dished out an additional eight assists in the loss.
Pappas finished with a team leading 12 kills as the team combined for 32 kills on 51 attempts with only six errors hitting .510. de Groh added seven kills and Shapiro dished out 16 assists. Zack Chambers led the defense with four digs. Ramapo hit .061 with 23 kills and 19 errors on 66 attempts. Konopacki led the way with seven kills and Balint finished the night with 21 assists.

The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, April 1st when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology for the opening round of the 2011 NECVA Championship Tournament. Ramapo, seeded 14, will face off with the third seeded Bearcats of Baruch College at noon.
