KANE LEADS ROADRUNNERS TO SWEEP OVER CCNY

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team played host to the Beavers of the City College of New York tonight at the Bradley Center where they earned a 3-0 (25-8, 25-23, 25-11) sweep behind rookie Mike Kane's offensive game. Ramapo improves to 17-10 overall. With the loss the Beavers wrap up the 2011 season standing at 10-23.

Behind three kills each from Andrew Brown and Colin McNeill, the Roadrunners posted a game one, 25-8 win over the Beavers. Ramapo hit .632 with a combined 12 kills on 19 attempts with no errors while CCNY went 3-12 with four errors hitting -.083. Rookie setter Andrew Balint dished out ten assists and Joel Castro led the defense with two digs. Nicholas Siriban led the Beavers with two kills.

Ramapo took a two set lead with a 25-23 win as rookie Mike Kane went 6-0-7 hitting .857. The team went a combined 16-38 with 11 errors hitting .132 while Mike Hrehovcik assisted on 13 points and Nick Hrehovcik led the defense with three digs. Rubin Taipi led the Beavers' offensive attack with four kills and Matthew Ng dished out seven assists. The team combined for nine kills on 23 attempts with four errors hitting .217.

In what turned out to be the final set of the night, the Roadrunners came out on top, 25-11 to earn the sweep. N. Hrehovcik led the way with six kills as the team hit .321 with 14 kills on 28 attempts with five errors. Harsh Prajapati dished out ten assists and Chris Sidnam led the defense with four digs. Adam Rynik led CCNY with two kills and the team hit -.043 with four kills combined.

Kane posted nine kills on the night and N. Hrehovcik added seven while McNeill and Sidnam recorded six and five kills respectively. M. Hrehovcik led the way with 13 assists and N. Hrehovcik and Sidnam led the defense with five digs each. Taipi and Siriban led the Beavers with four kills each while Ng assisted on 12 points and Jose Castillo recorded a team leading seven digs.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow night at the Bradley Center when they face off with Division I Rutgers Newark at 7pm.
