Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team dropped a tough 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-12, 20-25) decision to the #6 ranked Crimson Eagles of PBU tonight at the Bradley Center. With the loss, the Roadrunners fall to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NECVA Metro Conference. PBU gets their first win of the year to improve to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Justin Brubaker finished on top of all Crimson Eagles with 17 kills while Noah Prickett added 11 and Josh Tuttle chipped in seven. Drew Dillon led the team with 40 assists and Bill Lukacs led the defense with eight digs. The team combined hitting .202 with 43 kills and 21 errors on 109 attempts. Ramapo hit .098 with 36 kills on 102 attempts with 26 errors.
Andrew Brown recorded 11 kills leading the team's offensive spark and
Jeff Jones added eight in the loss.
Andrew Balint dished out 26 assists and
Kevin McNerney led the defense with 15 digs.
Behind five kills from Noah Prickett, the Crimson Eagles took game one from Ramapo, 25-21, as the team hit a combined .345 with 14 kills on 29 attempts with only four errors. Ramapo went 9-26 with five errors hitting .154 in the game one loss. Drew Dillon dished out 13 assists for PBU and rookie
Andrew Balint assisted on eight points for the Roadrunners. Bill Lucas picked up a team high four digs in the four-point win for the Crimson Eagles.
In game two, the Crimson Eagles took a two game match lead after defeating the Roadrunners, 25-21. Justin Brubaker led PBU with six kills recording 50% of the team's 12 kills in the win. The team hit .320 with the 12 kills on 25 attempts and four errors. Dillon added 12 assists. Balint again assisted on eight Ramapo points and
Andrew Brown led the defense with four digs.
The Roadrunners fought back to earn a 25-12 victory in game three hitting .385 behind six kills from Brown and four from rookie
Jeff Jones. The team put away 13 kills on 26 attempts with only three errors.
Kevin McNerney picked up five digs and Balint and
Mike Hrehovcik combined for 11 assists. Brubaker led the Crimson Eagles with four kills as the team recorded six total on 27 attempts with six errors.
In what turned out to be the final game of the match, the Crimson Eagles defeated the Roadrunners, 25-20, with the offensive attack led by Brubaker once again with five kills. Drew dished out nine assists and the team combined hitting .143 with 11 kills on 28 attempts with seven errors. Ramapo went 5-26 with nine hitting errors hitting -.154. McNerney led the defense with five digs.
On court two, #4 Rivier College defeated Vassar College, 3-1 (25-16, 25-23, 25-26, 29-27) to pick up their sixth win of the season. Jared Andreozzi tallied 14 kills on 29 attempts while collecting four digs and three blocks. Aaron Almario and Alex Xenidis tallied 11 and ten kills respectively while Almario added three blocks and Xenidis tallied three service aces and three digs. Drew Corwin recorded 15 digs for the Raiders while Steve Visentin dished out a team high 42 assists.
For Vassar, Evan Fredericksen posted a match high 17 kills and six digs while Matthew Elgin added 12 kills and three blocks. John Konow dished out 42 assists and picked up six digs and two blocks while Christian La Du tallied a team high 12 digs.
The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they take on Vassar and Rivier in an 11am and 1pm match respectively at the Bradley Center.
