Madison, NJ - The Ramapo College field hockey team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham, 3-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Devils dropped to 2-2 while the Roadrunners improve to 2-1.
Ramapo opened the scoring with just under five minutes gone by in the first half when sophomore
Katie Bruno (Middletown, NJ) tallied her team leading fifth goal of the season. off a penalty corner, she was assisted by junior
Aimee Herbert (Oceanport, NJ).
Junior
Amanda Barretta (Roseland, NJ) made it 2-0 with and unassisted goal with 27:52 left before the break. The Devils came back to cut it to 2-1 with 7:23 remaining in the first stanza when freshman forward Bethany Barrar (Somerset, MA/Somerset) converted a pass from junior midfielder Megan Springmeyer (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills). The Devils got a few good scoring opportunities in the second half but couldn't convert while Ramapo added an insurance goal by Barretta with 13:01 left in the contest to ice the victory.
Freshman goalkeeper Tess Loughran (Newton, NJ/Newton) suffered the defeat, making six saves in goal. Sophomore
Rebecca Elliott (Brick, NJ) recorded seven saves in the win in a complete game victory.
The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to DeSales University on Saturday for a 1:00 PM start.
