New York, NY: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team raised their record to 22-3 overall with two non-conference wins at the 2010 Hunter College Tournament. The Roadrunners defeated the host, 3-1 (16-25, 25-21, 25-20, 27-25) before downing Manhattanville College, 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-12).
Against Hunter, junior
Michelle Ferrari (Marlton, NJ) pounded out 26 kills on 59 attempts while also adding 15 digs to lead Ramapo. Senior
Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) tallied 13 kills on 34 attempts while adding 13 digs.
Junior
Maura Burke (Wyckoff, NJ) added seven kills and four total blocks while junior
Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ)dished out a team high 36 assists and five service aces. Junior
Elizabeth Steck (Marlton, NJ) tallied a team high 30 digs in the four set match.
In their final match of the day against the Valiants, Taege led the way with 15 kills on 23 attempts to hit .609 while also adding ten digs and two service aces. Ferrari added 14 kills on 27 attempts to hit .444 and added nine digs.
Fisher recorded 21 assists; two service aces and 13 digs while Steck led the team with 15 digs of her own. Sophomore
Julia Tuzio (Paramus, NJ) added three kills and dished out ten assists while adding five digs and two service aces.
Ramapo returns to action at the Hunter College Tournament tomorrow at 9am when they take on Old Westbury.
