Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team shutdown the Pioneers of William Paterson University today at the Bradley Center, 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-21). The Roadrunners improve to 15-2, 5-1 in the NJAC while the Pioneers fall to 13-5, 2-4 in the conference.
Junior
Michelle Ferrari (Marlton, NJ) led the Roadrunners in the match with 18 kills on 22 attempts to hit .500; she also recorded six digs. Junior
Maura Burke (Wyckoff, NJ) tallied 11 kills on 20 attempts (.450) while collecting three total blocks and one service ace.
Senior
Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) added ten kills and a team high 13 digs while junior
Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) dished out a match-high 39 assists. Junior
Allison DiAngelo (Clifton, NJ) posted six kills, two service aces and one block in the match while junior
Elizabeth Steck (Marlton, NJ) added 12 digs for Ramapo.
For the Pioneers, junior Kim Runge, sophomore Kelly Shaw and junior Megan Maher all tallied eight kills. Runge posted 17 digs and two service aces while Maher added 11 assists and four digs. Senior Michelle Leeder tallied 14 digs while sophomore Michelle Mitchell tallied a team high 23 digs.
The match was evenly played on both ends while Ramapo was able to pull away in each game to come away with the three-game victory. The Roadrunners pounded out 51 kills to the Pioneers 33 while both teams tallied five service aces.
The Roadrunners honored senior
Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) on senior night prior to the match. The team also used this match as their Dig Pink game, all donations will go toward the Side Out Foundation in the team's name.
The Roadrunners return to action this Friday when they travel to the Saint Joseph's Invitational. On Friday they play York (NY) at 4:00 PM and Saint Joseph's (Bk) at 6:00 PM. On Saturday they play St. Joseph's (LI) at 10:00 AM and Farmingdale State at 2:00 PM.
