ROADRUNNERS SUFFER FIRST LOSS OF SEASON TO RIVIER

Mahwah, NJ:  The Roadrunner men's volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season tonight at the Bradley Center to the Raiders of Rivier College in three straight sets, (30-20, 30-25, 30-24).  With the loss the Roadrunners fall to 2-1 on the year.  Philadelphia Biblical University defeated Sacred Heart in three straight sets on court #2, (30-26, 30-24, 31-29) to improve to 2-0 on the year.  Sacred Heart falls to 0-2 and Rivier improves to 4-0.

Court #1: Rivier defeated Ramapo 3-0
Ramapo fell short, 30-20 in game one hitting .115, well behind the Raiders .643 with 21 kills on 28 attempts with only three errors.  The Roadrunners combined for only ten kills with seven errors on 26 attempts.  The Raiders took game two, 30-25, hitting .323 with 15 combined kills on 31 attempts with five errors.  Ramapo went 11-29 with eight errors hitting .103 in the loss.  Game three went to Rivier College, 30-24, sweeping Ramapo in three straight sets.  The Roadrunners hit -.067 in the final game while Rivier went 13-21 with four errors hitting .429.  Ramapo posted only nine kills with 11 errors on 30 attempts in the final game.

Jared Andreozzi (Barrington, RI) led the Raiders with 16 kills while Zach Hansen (Shelton, CT) dished out 38 assists with four assisted blacks.  Matt Ferreira (N. Providence, RI) recorded 11 kills and posted a team leading six blocks.  On the night the team put away 49 kills with only 12 errors on 80 attempts hitting .463.  All Roadrunners were held to single digit kills with sophomore Paul Konopacki (Monroe Twp., NJ) recording a team leading seven.  The team hit a season low, .047 with 30 kills on 85 attempts with 26 errors.  Matt Scott (Edison, NJ) dished out 28 assists and rookie Steve Vahalla (Bloomfield, NJ) added six kills in the loss.

Court #2:  Philadelphia Biblical defeated Sacred Heart 3-0
PBU came away with game one by four points, 30-26, after a point-for-point game reaching 25-25, before a 5-1 run down the stretch gave the Crimson Eagles the game.  PBU took a two game lead with a 30-24 victory after leading for the entire game.  The Crimson Eagles hit .420 in the first two games with 39 combined kills.  The final game went to PBU, 31-29 for a three set sweep.  Justin Brubaker (Telford, PA) led the Crimson Eagles with 23 kills while the team combined for 57 on the night.  PBU hit .374 with 17 errors on 107 attempts.  Drew Dillon (Mount Joy, PA) dished out 47 assists and Leandro Dueck (Lititz, PA) led the defense with 19 digs.  Brubaker added 13 digs.  Kalani Efstathiou (Beaverton, OR) led the Pioneers offensive attack with 13 kills and Roger Parent (Burlington, CT) added eight to the mix.  Tim Sadowski (Salem, NH) contributed 31 assists and Parent led the defense with nine digs.  The team recorded 35 kills in the loss.

The Roadrunners return to action tomorrow when they take on Sacred Heart University at 11:00am and Philadelphia Biblical at 3:00pm.  Rivier and PBU will face off at 11am while Rivier takes on Sacred Heart in the 3:00pm match-up.
