Pomona, NJ: Richard Stockton (12-5, 3-0) extended its winning streak to six matches and snapped Ramapo's (13-4, 3-1) six-match winning streak with a 25-23, 25-22, 25-23 victory in three close sets.
Christine Velott (Moorestown/Moorestown) led the Ospreys with a match-high 14 kills plus seven digs. Anna Streicher (Marlton/Cherokee) added six kills and Laura Hausman (Bethlehem, PA/Catasauqua) dished 18 assists.
Kaitlin Smith (Westwood/Immaculate Heart) paced Ramapo with 11 kills and four blocks while
Maura Burke (Wyckoff/Ramapo) contributed six kills and a match-high eight blocks.
Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake/Pascack Hills) handed out 25 assists for the Roadrunners.
In the opening set, Velott tallied five kills and Stockton erased an early five-point deficit to win 25-23. Velott slammed five more kills in the second set as the Ospreys prevailed 25-22. Ramapo opened up a 15-9 lead in the third set but Stockton battled back and snapped a 23-23 tie on a Ramapo error and a kill by Velott on match point for a 25-23 victory. Smith pounded five kills in the final set for the Roadrunners.
Stockton will play an NJAC match at New Jersey City next Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. Ramapo will play matches against Polytechnic and John Jay on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
