RAMAPO TAKES TWO IN NJAC/SKYLINE CHALLENGE

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team picked up two wins in the NJAC/Skyline Challenge today at the Athletic Center. The Roadrunners defeated St. Joseph's-LI, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-17) and shut out SUNY Purchase 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-14). Ramapo is now 5-2 on the season.

Ramapo would defeat the Eagles 3-0 in match one behind sophomore Kaitlin Smith (Westwood, NJ) who tallied a team high 11 kills on 20 attempts while adding two blocks and six digs. Sophomore Kayla Anders (Harrington Park, NJ) added nine kills and a combined total of four blocks. Sophomore Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) led the team with five service aces while dishing out 27 assists and a team high eight digs.

For the Eagles, sophomore Melissa Yannotta (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) led the team with five kills while adding one dig and two blocks. Senior Natalie Czelowalnik (Ronkonkoma, NY) recorded seven assists while junior Shannon Dempsey (Lake George, NY) added a match high 17 digs.

The Roadrunners took match two against SUNY Purchase, 3-0. Anders led the Roadrunner attack with ten kills on 16 attempts to hit .562 in the match. Junior Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) led the team with five service aces while adding three kills. Fischer led the team with 33 assists, one kill and four service aces. Sophomore Maura Burke (Wyckoff, NJ) tallied seven assists on ten attempts while adding two blocks.

For the Panthers, sophomore Olivia Hintz (East Aurora, NY) led the team with six kills while adding two service aces and 13 digs. Sophomore Mickaela Olson (Glen Cove, NY) dished out 17 assists in the match.

On court two, Saint Joseph's-LI defeated New Jersey City University, 3-1 (25-12, 26-28, 25-19, 25-17). The Eagles were led by senior Marwa Elembaby (Holtsville, NY) who posted 17 kills and added five aces and eight digs. Sophomore Brianna Meyer (Bohemia, NY) posted nine kills while Yannotta added ten kills. Dempsey led the team with 37 assists while adding three aces. For the Gothic Knights, sophomore Tabitha Jordan (Bayonne, NJ) led the team with 11 kills and 17 digs. Junior Alex Johanesen (Bridgewater, NJ) dished out a team high 24 assists while adding nine digs and two service aces. Senior Melissa Loo (Rutherford, NJ) added seven kills for NJCU and five digs.

The Gothic Knights defeated the Panthers from SUNY Purchase, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-21) in their first match of the day. Johanesen led the team with 22 assists while Jordan posted six kills and seven digs. Sophomore Kiara Martinez (Newark, NJ) posted four kills while adding two aces and two blocks. For the Panthers, rookie Taylor Edelman (Bethel, CT) led the team with ten kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Amanda Zambrana (Queens, NY) added five kills and two digs while Olson added four kills and seven digs.

The Roadrunners return to action when they travel to NJAC rival William Paterson University on September 15th at 7:00 PM.
