ROADRUNNERS DOWN YESHIVA IN HOME OPENER, 74-63

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team defeated the Maccabees of Yeshiva University tonight at the Bradley Center, 74-63 in the second game of the 2009-2010 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament.
The Roadrunners now stand at 2-0 on the season while the Maccabees fall to 1-1.

Four Roadrunners scored in double figures in their second win of the season. Senior Isaiah Lynch (Linden, NJ) led the team with 15 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Sophomore Davian Plunkett (Paterson, NJ) was second on the team in rebounds with eight while tallying 13 points while rookie Travis Conyers (Jersey City, NJ) posted his second double-digit scoring game when he tallied 12 points while dishing out three assists and three steals.

Sophomore Garret Thiel (Middletown, NJ) ripped down seven boards and scored ten points in the win. Sophomore Jairo Cruz (Union City, NJ) grabbed eight rebounds while scoring nine points.  The Roadrunners shot 48% from the floor in the game while the Maccabees shot 46%.

Yeshiva sunk 11 three pointers in the game shooting 42% from behind the arc. Sophomore Omer Haim (Rishon Lizion, Israel) was 7-12 from the field, shooting 5-9 from behind the arc totaling 19 points. Rookie Gil Bash (Tel-Aviv, Israel) scored 12 points for Yeshiva, as he was 5-6 from the field and 2-2 from the foul line. Senior Martin Leibovich (Buenos Aires, Argentina) tallied ten points and grabbed seven rebounds to led the team while dishing out three assists.

The Roadrunners now move onto the championship game of the 2009-2010 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament where they will face Wentworth Institute of Technology tomorrow at 3:00 PM. The Maacabees will face off against the Bulldogs of Berkeley College at 1:00 PM in the consolation game.

In the first game of the evening the Leopards of the Wentworth Institute of Technology posted an 83-65 victory over Berkeley College, earning their first victory of the season to improve to 1-2 overall.  With the 18 point loss, Berkeley falls to 0-3 on the year.

Adam Dombrowski netted a team high 21 points shooting 8-13 from the field for Wentworth, including 5-8 from behind the three-point arc.  Brendan Monteiro sunk five field goals and six free throw shots for 16 game points while Sam Herrick and Shane West combined for 24 points hitting 10-15 from the field.  The team shot 50% in the game (26-52), and pulled down 50 rebounds, out rebounding Berkeley College by 18 (32).  Berkeley hit 35% of their shots (23-65).  Matt Abbott led Wentworth with 12 rebounds and Monteiro led the way dishing out three assists. 

For Berkeley, Donovan Black recorded a team high 25 points and Jarrel Young followed with 19, hitting 9-12 and 5-15 respectively.  Young contributed three assists and four rebounds on the night while grabbing eight steals.

At the half, Wentworth held a 15 point (45-30) advantage over Berkeley.  Wentworth led by as many as 19 in the first half while earning their biggest lead, 27 (59-32) with 14:23 left to play.
