Mahwah, NJ: A goal from Kean's rookie Carly Seidel (Winslow Twp., NJ), stood as the game winner in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women's soccer match-up today at the Athletic Center. Ramapo wraps up the 2009 season standing at 8-9-1 overall, 2-6-1 in the NJAC.
Seidel posted her sixth goal of the season leading Kean (7-7-4 overall, 4-3-2 NJAC) to a 2-0 shutout over the Roadrunners in NJAC action in Mahwah. Seidel knocked the ball past senior netminder
Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) at 84:42 for a 1-0 Cougar lead. With just 40 seconds to play in the game, leading scorer, Danielle Esposito (Holmdel, NJ), took a pass from Seidel, to net her tenth goal of the season, giving her team the two goal advantage. The Cougars held on for the final seconds earning the two goal shut out.
The Cougars edged Ramapo in shots, 6-3 in the first half and 8-4 in the second, while also holding an edge in corners, 6-0 on the day.
DaRold finished the day with three saves and junior goalkeeper Leandra Russo (Galloway, NJ) blocked just one for the Cougars in the full 90 minutes of play.
Kean returns to action on Saturday, October 31st when the first round of the 2009 NJAC Championship Tournament commences. The Cougars have earned the #5 seed and await the outcome of tonight's game, Richard Stockton, currently in 3rd place, verse William Paterson, currently in 4th, to see who they will face off with in the #4 vs. #5 match-up.
