ROADRUNNERS DEFEAT STOCKTON, 8-2; MANIGRASSO NETS THREE

Mahwah, NJ: In a New Jersey Athletic Conference field hockey match-up, the Roadrunners posted a victory to improve to 5-6 overall, 1-1 in the NJAC on the year, 8-2 over the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College.  The Ospreys fall to 3-9 overall, 0-2 in the conference.

Ramapo opened to a 3-0 lead with the opening goal coming from rookie Victoria Ahlers (Freehold, NJ), off an assist from Jayne Manigrasso (Atlantic Highlands, NJ) at 12:52. Under one minute later, Manigrasso posted her tenth goal of the year off a breakaway, before tallying her 11th goal of the season at 21:20, putting the Roadrunners up three goals to none.

The Ospreys got on the scoreboard at 26:32 when Katie Mattsson (Brick, NJ) connected on a pass from Gillian Terreri (Medford, NJ). Terreri dished another ball to Susanne Anzabi (Mt. Laurel, NJ) just over one minute later to close the gap, 3-2 heading into the intermission.

The Roadrunners out shot the Ospreys 11-3 in the first 35 minutes of play.

Manigrasso struck again at the start of the second half, giving Ramapo a 4-2 lead, off an assist from sophomore Aimee Herbert (Ocean Port, NJ), before sophomore Rebecca Penhaker (Wantage, NJ) put Ramapo up, 5-2, with an unassisted goal, her second of the year with 29 minutes to play.

Herbert hit the back of the cage at 54:25, off an assist from Ahlers, and Ahlers scored one of her own at 55:17 for a 7-2 Ramapo lead.  Amanda Mavrakes (Wayne, NJ) knocked in the final goal of the game in the 57th minute for the 8-2 Roadrunner victory.  Penhaker and Manigrasso assisted on the final goals.

Ramapo edged the Ospreys 10-5 in shots in the second half, earning nine penalty corners in the full 70 minutes of play.  Stockton earned five penalty corners.

Amanda Ferry (Gloucester City, NJ), Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ), and Rebecca Elliot (Brick, NJ), all split time in front of the cage for Ramapo.  The three combined for three saves.  Debi O'Kane (Cologne, NJ) made eight saves in the cage.

The Roadrunners hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness day today.  All money raised from tickets and concessions is being donated to Susan G. Komen For the Cure.  Special thanks to all fans who wore Pink to show their support of finding a cure.  And special thanks to all who made special donations!

The Roadrunners travel to the College of New Jersey on October 15th for a 7:30pm game, while the Ospreys take on Drew University on October 14th at 5:30pm in Madison, NJ.
