Mahwah, NJ: Senior outside hitter Amanda Burkart (Cresskill, NJ) put down 14 kills leading the Ospreys to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-12) victory over the Roadrunners in a NJAC women's volleyball match-up at the Bradley Center. With the win, Stockton remains undefeated in conference play improving to 3-0 (14-6 overall), while the Roadrunners suffer their first conference loss falling to 3-1 (10-7 overall).
In game one, Burkart tallied four of her 14 match kills hitting .250. The team combined for 13 kills hitting .333 with only three errors on their 30 attempts. Christine Aletras (Ridgewood, NJ) dished out ten assists and Christine Astarita (Selden, NY) led the defense with four digs. Ramapo's
Kayla Anders (Harrington Park, NJ) was held to only two kills in the first game of a best out-of-five match-up, while her team hit a combined five kills with eight errors on 25 attempts (-.120).
Senior Audrey O'Donnell (Bogota, NJ) controlled Stockton's offensive attack in game two with six kills hitting .857 with no errors on seven attempts. Burkart added three more and Aletras assisted on 11 total kills. Anders again put down two kills and
Kimberly Runge (Closter, NJ) recorded a team high five digs. The Ospreys hit .258 over Ramapo's .125 in the second game to take a 2-0 lead over Ramapo.
The final game, again in Stockton's favor (25-12) was highlighted by seven more kills from Burkart. O'Donnell put away three more and Aletras added nine assists and three service aces. The Ospreys hit .308 again over Ramapo's .167. Anders put away three more kills and
Michelle Del Valle (Teaneck, NJ) and
Tiffany Fischer (Woodcliff Lake, NJ) combined for seven assists.
On the night, Burkart contributed the 14-team leading kills and O'Donnell finished with 12. Aletras wrapped up the night with 30 assists and Christine Velott (Moorestown, NJ) added six kills and two service aces. The team combined for 37 kills hitting .299 with 11 errors on 87 attempts while Ramapo went 19-67 with 16 errors hitting .045. Anders led Ramapo with seven kills.
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, October 2nd when they take on non-conference rival John Jay at 7:30 PM while the Ospreys take on FDU-Florham on Friday at 4:00 PM in Madison, NJ.
