Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College lacrosse team dropped a tough non-conference game today at the Athletic Center. A late second half surge by the Roadrunners wouldn't be enough as the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College came away with an 18-7 victory. Ramapo falls to 1-7 overall while Elmira improves to 5-8.
Elmira got on the board when Sarah Young (Hampton, NJ) ripped an unassisted shot to go up 1-0 before Ramapo took the lead 2-1 two minutes later with goals by sophomore
Sarah Clayton (Howell, NJ), her first goal was assisted by sophomore
Jourdan Chiavaro (Manchester, NJ).
The Soaring Eagles took a commanding 10-4 lead into the half when Mary Kate Geratowski (Wilder, VT) and Lauren Mokes (Morganville, NJ) scored two goals a piece while Erin Kendall (White River Junction, VT) found the back of the net three times in the first half.
Ramapo's scored with just under eighteen minutes to play in the first half from Chivaro and was assisted by sophomore
Cassandra Hartline (Kinnelon, NJ). The fourth goal of the half came from rookie
Melissa Ohstrom (Dumont, NJ) with twelve minutes to play in the half.
Mokes recorded four more goals in the second half for the Soaring Eagles. Ramapo's
Eveline Rutledge (Plainsboro, NJ) ripped an unassisted shot into the back of the net to close the gap, 5-12. Clayton scored two more for Ramapo before Rutledge scored with forty second remaining in the game, 8-17.
Rutledge recorded two goals and one assist in the game while Clayton scored four goals on five shots.
The Roadrunners return to action when they host Western Connecticut State University on April 21st at 4:30 PM
