Trenton, NJ: The Ramapo College women's swim team traveled to The College of New Jersey tonight and fell short to the Lions, 73-117 to fall to 2-7 overall on the year.
In the 200-yard breaststroke,
Megan Robb (Blackwood, NJ) came in 1st swimming in 2:40.55 while captain
Erika Axelsson (North Cape May, NJ) earned a 1st place finish of her own in the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 5:35.40. The team's 200-yard freestyle medley team, consisting of Mary Lauzon (Teaneck, NJ), Robb,
Rachel Coviello (Wayne, NJ), and captain
Courtney Caruso (Manchester, NJ), placed 2nd in 1:53.58 while
Jaclyn Bondarenko (Wayne, NJ),
Jourdan Chiavaro (Manchester, NJ),
Cheryl Pachella (Saddle Brook, NJ), and
Rachel Chipolone (Fair Lawn, NJ) combined efforts in the same event placing 3rd overall in 2:04.69.
Kerri Adams (Parlin, NJ) and Axelsson placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 1,000-yard freestyle finishing in 11:46.50 and 11:48.36 respectively and in the 100-yard breaststroke, Robb and
Christina Polgar (Wayne, NJ) earned 2nd and 3rd place finishes respectively. Robb touched the poolside in 1:13.99 and Polgar came in right behind in 1:16.68.
The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, February 16th when they host Ocean County Community College and Pace at 2:00 PM. Ramapo's seniors will be honored prior to the start of the meet.
