New York, NY: The Roadrunners took game one and two before the Hawks of Hunter College fought back winning three and four to force a game five deciding match-up. Ramapo held on to earn the 3-2 (30-22, 30-23, 27-30, 18-30, 15-7) victory to improve to 9-1 overall on the year. The loss is Hunter's third of the season falling to 7-3.
Junior outside hitter
Shane Donohue (Freehold, NJ) led all Roadrunners with 16 kills while senior opposite
Brendan Whitford (Lyndhurst, NJ) followed close behind with 14 of his own. The team combined for 65 kills with
Tom Kohler (Old Bridge, NJ) and
TC Elsasser (Barnegat, NJ) contributing ten each. Senior setter
Jairo Sierra (Fair Lawn, NJ) dished out 51 assists and defensive specialist
Dan Sempkowski (East Brunswick, NJ) led the team's defense with 17 digs. Kohler and Whitford each recorded eight total blocks while Elsasser added four.
The Roadrunners head to MIT this weekend for a two day tournament commencing Saturday evening.
