Mahwah, NJ: The Ospreys of Richard Stockton College defeated the Ramapo College men's basketball team, 86-73 today at the Bradley Center in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up. The Roadrunners remain defeated in the conference standing at 0-2, while the Ospreys remain undefeated at 2-0. Ramapo stands at 4-3 overall.
Sophomore Michael Farrow (Whitesboro, NJ), who came off the bench and played 30 minutes, shot 9-16 from the field, for a team leading 22 points on the night. Santnini Lancioni (Runnemede, NJ) recorded 19 points and Jerome Hubbard (Neptune, NJ) and Kevin Brown (Neptune, NJ) each contributed 11 points in the win. Lancioni grabbed eight steals in the game while dishing out a team high four assists. The Ospreys combined sinking 30 field goals on 57 attempts (53%) while forcing 28 Ramapo turnovers. Tim Wesley (Jersey City, NJ) recorded 19 points and ten boards for his sixth double-double of the year.
The Ospreys controlled the first half leading the entire 20 minutes, with their biggest lead coming with just 2:50 on the clock when Hubbard hit a three-point shot to take a 38-23 edge. At the start of the game, Stockton put together an 8-0 run, sparked by Chad Davis (Millville, NJ) and topped off with a jumper from Farrow, before
Isaiah Lynch (Linden, NJ) got the Roadrunners on the board with a jumper of his own, 8-2, at the 13:28 minute mark. The Roadrunners cut the lead to just one point, 20-19, at 7:00 flat, when rookie
Davian Plunkett (Paterson, NJ) knocked down a two-point goal. Stockton spent the next four minutes slowly creeping ahead of Ramapo, coming to the 2:50 minute mark when Hubbard's three-pointer put the Ospreys up 15. Wesley put Ramapo within 11, heading into the intermission, 38-27 behind Stockton. Wesley's jump shot was the final basket of the half coming with 1:26 to play. All players in the half were held to single digit points; Wesley and Plunkett each leading Ramapo with six, and Farrow leading the Ospreys with nine. The Ospreys shot 15-26 (58%) ahead of Ramapo's 12-30 (40%).
The Roadrunners strung together a jump shot and four three-point goals at the start of the second half to come within four points, 47-43, with 16:11 on the clock. Kenny hit the two-point goal to start the half and
Ahmad Hassan (Edgewater, NJ) followed with a shot from behind the arc to come within 11. Kenny hit back-to-back threes and Hassan hit his second three of the game to pull within the four points. Lancioni hit a jumper and Wesley hit one of his own, before a basket from Farrow sparked a 6-0 run to put the Ospreys up by ten again, 55-45, with just under 13 to go. The two teams traded baskets over the next minute and at 10:53, Wesley sparked a 6-0 run to close the gap, 60-55. With 9:15 to play, Stockton put together four baskets for eight points to again lead by double-digits, 13, (70-57). In the remaining minutes of the game, the closest Ramapo would come is within seven points at 3:24, but four Ramapo turnovers gave the Ospreys the 13 point, 86-73 win. Lancioni and Farrow each netted 13 points in the final 20 minutes while the team hit 15-31 (48%) from the field. Ramapo's Kenny recorded 17 of his game total 22 points in the half. The Roadrunners sunk 18-32 (48%).
The Roadrunners return to action on Thursday, December 11th when they travel to NYC College of Technology at 7:00 PM. The Ospreys travel to Brooklyn College on Saturday, December 13th at 3:00 PM.
