TRIPLE-DOUBLE FROM WESLEY LEADS RAMAPO TO 83-74 WIN OVER YORK

Mahwah, NJ: Senior Tim Wesley (Jersey City, NJ) led the Roadrunners to an 83-74 victory over the Cardinals of York College, with a triple-double including 19 points, ten rebounds, and 11 assists. The Roadrunners improve to 4-1 overall while the Cardinals fall to 1-3 overall with the loss tonight at the Bradley Center.

Andre Kenny (Jersey City, NJ) recorded 16 points hitting 8-12 from the field while Kevin Findlay (Roselle, NJ) and Ahmad Hassan (Edgewater, NJ) each added 11 in the win. Rookie Davian Plunkett (Paterson, NJ) shot 5-8 from the field contributing 12 points on the night. Wesley's 11 assists and Hassan's three, combined for 14 of the team's assists. Ramapo finished the night hitting 36-69 (52%).

York was led by Omari Phipps (Laurelton, NY) with 23 points and Nahum Verna (Haiti) and Ryan Exum (Bronx, NY) added 21 and 15 points respectively. York went 29-60 (48%) in the game.

Sparked by a lay-up from Kenny, off an assist from Wesley, the Roadrunners jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first 3:28 minutes. Ramapo held the Cardinals with no baskets until 16:07 when Exum hit a jumper to get York on the board, 13-2. Ernst Ambroise (Sayreville, NJ) hit a basket for Ramapo at 15:29, 15-2, which would be their final basket over the next 3:14. York strung together four baskets, including two three-pointers, to close the gap, 15-12. Ramapo would spend the next four minutes spreading their lead to 12, with a lay-up from Hassan, before working their way to their biggest lead of the half (15), with 1:40 to go, when Wesley sunk his fourth basket of the first 20 minutes of play. Ramapo went into the intermission with a 50-37 lead over the Cardinals. The Roadrunners combined for 22 field goals in the half hitting 55%, led by ten points from Hassan. Wesley and Plunkett each added eight points while Wesley dished out a team high seven assists. Phipps netted 13 points in the half and Verna added ten.

The Roadrunners opened the second half on a 9-0 run to go up by 22 on the Cardinals, 59-37, with 17:37 to play. Wesley sparked the run that was capped off by a dunk from Kenny. The Cardinals would come within 12 at 6:36 with a three-pointer from Verna, and within eight with just two minutes to go after a basket from Junior Fuller (Rosedale, NY). Ramapo would hold on in the final two minutes to grab the 83-74, nine point victory. Wesley netted 11 points in the second half and Kenny added ten, while Wesley pulled down a team high seven boards. Ramapo hit 14-29 (48%) from the field while the Cardinals held pace with Ramapo at 15-32 (48%). Verna led the way for York with 11 second half points.

The Roadrunners return to action on December 3rd when they open the 2008-2009 NJAC season in Newark, NJ, against the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark at 7:30 PM.
