Tim Wesley (Jersey City, NJ) was named tournament MVP after leading his team to a 70-63 victory over the Warriors of Eastern Connecticut in the championship match of the 2008 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament.  With the win the Roadrunners improve to 2-0 on the year.  EConn falls to 1-1.
Championship Game: Ramapo 70 – Eastern Connecticut 63
Wesley finished the night with a double-double including 24 points and 15 boards.  He dished out one assist and grabbed one steal in the game.  Sophomore 
Ahmad Hassan (Edgewater, NJ) netted 16 points shooting 5-15, 4-7 from the three-point arc, while 
Kevin Findlay (Roselle, NJ) recorded 12 points of his own.  The Roadrunners combined hitting 20-62 (32%) behind Eastern Connecticut's 27-75 (36%).  Jeremy Thompson (Berlin, CT) led the Warriors sinking 20 points.  Edwin Ortiz and Broderick Sawyer (Norwalk, CT) each added eight points in the game.
The Roadrunners opened the game down 6-1 before a 7-0 run, sparked by a three-pointer from Hassan, gave the Roadrunners an 8-6 advantage.  Ramapo slowly sneaked ahead of Eastern Connecticut gaining a ten point, 20-10 lead at 10:39 with a free throw from 
Andre Kenny (Jersey City, NJ), before the Warriors answered with a 6-0 run of their own to come within four, 20-16 with 8:32 to play.  With 6:22 to go in the half, Courtney Simmons (Middletown, CT) hit a jumper for EConn to tie the game at 24-24.  The Roadrunners held a slight advantage in the final minutes outscoring the Warriors, 8-6 to head into the locker room with a two-point, 32-30 edge. Hassan netted 11 points in the half and Wesley sunk nine, while the team struggled hitting only eight baskets in the first 20 minutes of play.  Ortiz led the Warriors in the half with eight points and Simmons contributed five.
In the opening three and a half minutes of the second half, the score remained tight until a three-pointer from Hassan, and a jumper from Kenny, put Ramapo back up by nine, 45-36.  Ramapo would grab a ten-point advantage when rookie 
Garret Thiel (Middletown, NJ) hit two shots from the charity stripe to go up 56-46 with 9:27 to play. Thompson put the Warriors within four at 4:49 with a good two-point basket, but the Roadrunners answered back connecting five points to again take a nine-point lead with only 2:21 to go in the game.  Thompson recorded four points in the next minute and with an and-one play from Bill Roveto (South Windsor, CT), the Warriors were within three with only 35 seconds to play.  The Warriors were forced to foul in the final seconds, and Wesley capitalized on four free throws, to earn the seven point, 70-63 victory.  Ramapo went 12-28 (43%) in the second half behind 15 points from Wesley, while EConn's Thompson sunk 15 of his 20 total points in last 20 minutes of play.
Consolation Game:  Yeshiva 65 – Berkeley 48
Simon Brookim (Brentwood, CA) sunk 18 points and pulled down three boards to lead the Maccabees to a 3rd place finish in the Annual Tip-Off Tournament.  The team shot a combined 25-51 (49%).  Junior Alex Claster (Kansas City, MO) netted 16 points and recorded a team high nine rebounds while Chen Biron (Israel) contributed 12 points leading his team to their first win of the season.
Yeshiva took a 33-22 halftime lead behind 11 points and five boards from Claster.  The Maccabees shot 43% as a team hitting 12-28 from the field.  Berkeley's Donovan Black (Morristown, NJ) led the Bulldogs with seven point shooting 3-5 while the team went 10-24 (42%).
In the second half the Maccabees biggest lead came in the final seconds when Claster hit a jumper with an and-one basket to grab the 17 point, 65-48 victory.  Brookim put away 11 second half points and Biron and Claster contributed five each.  Black recorded 16 points for the Bulldogs in the final 20 minutes of play.  Yeshiva sunk 13-23 in the half while Berkeley put away 7-21.
Black finished the day with 23 points and four boards.  His team shot 17-45 (38%) in the game.
