RAMAPO AND MONTCLAIR PLAY TO 1-1 TIE

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College womens soccer team played a NJAC match-up today with the Red Hawks of Montclair State at the Athletic Center in Mahwah. The two teams played 110 minutes of soccer to a 1-1 tie, both earning one point in the conference standings. The Roadrunners (7 points) stand at 5-7-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Red Hawks (10 points), after the tie, stand at 7-6-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the conference.

The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead at 24:49 after rookie Rachel Senyszyn (Succasunna, NJ) bounced a ball over the head of junior goalkeeper Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) off a cross from fellow rookie Symone Seldon (Trenton, NJ). The goal was Senyszyn's eighth of the year. DaRold made six saves in the half while MSU took 12 shots. Ramapo took one shot in the half.

Ramapo tied the game just over seven minutes into the second half when sophomore forward Melissa Demko (East Brunswick, NJ) snuck a threw ball to fellow sophomore Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ) scoring her fourth of the season. No goals were scored in the final minutes forcing overtime play. In the second half, Ramapo took six shots while the Red Hawks got off seven.

After two overtime periods the two teams played scoreless soccer ending in the 1-1 tie. Ramapo finished the day with nine total shots while Montclair took 23.

DaRold finished the game with ten saves while Montclair's Leah Tepperman (North Andover, MA)
wrapped up the game with six of her own.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 18th when they travel to NJAC rival Rutgers Camden at 6:00 PM. Montclair takes on Richard Stockton at home at 6:00 PM.
