Women's Volleyball

FDU-FLORHAM GOES 3-0, RAMAPO 2-1 IN TRI-MATCH-UP AT BRADLEY CENTER IN MAHWAH

Mahwah, NJ The Ramapo College women's volleyball team played host to FDU-Florham, Lycoming, and Rhode Island tonight in a tri-match-up at the Bradley Center in Mahwah.  FDU went 3-0, Ramapo, 2-1, Rhode Island, 1-2, and Lycoming 0-3 on the day. 

Match 1: Ramapo defeated Lycoming, 3-1 (25-30, 30-16, 30-23, 30-25)
The Roadrunners defeated Lycoming College, 3-1 in match one of the night behind Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) who posted 22 kills and six digs to lead the team.  Senior setter Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out a team high 41 assists and Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) recorded 14 digs and Christine Simmons (Upper Saddle River, NJ) led the way with 21.  The team hit .196 over Lycoming's .014.  Heather Frantz (Pine Grove, PA) led the Lady Warriors with 12 kills on 48 attempts while Abby Myers (Shippensburg, PA) contributed 26 assists in the loss.  Alyssa Taylor (Camp Hill, PA) led the defense with 19 digs.

 Match 1:  FDU defeated Rhode Island, 3-1 (28-30, 30-21, 30-21, 30-24)
FDU was led by Megan Droge (North Merrick, NY) and Holly Farricy (Mills, MA) who each contributed 11 kills in the win.  Lauren Brazier (Stony Brook, NY) posted eight and Kerry Kuperman (Scottsdale, AZ) recorded five while dishing out 28 assists for the team.  Rhode Island's Kimiyo Garcia (Riverside, RI) led the team with 19 kills, ten digs, and four aces while Sherri Heard (Conventry, RI) recorded 11 kills and three assists in the loss.  Jeanne Rosa (Milford, CT) contributed a team high 25 assists.

Match 2:  FDU defeated Ramapo, 3-1 (30-23, 30-24, 30-18, 30-26)
The Roadrunners fell short 3-1 in their second match-up of the night.  Despite the loss Hennecke added 21 kills with three digs while Taege added 15 in the loss.  Cornett dished out 46 assists and Simmons led the defense once again with 17 digs.  Taege added 15 of her own. Ramapo hit .257 as a team over FDU's .229.  Brazier led the Devils with 13 kills and Christa SanFilippo (Spring, TX) posted 12 in the team's second win of the night.  Kuperman recorded 44 assists and ten digs.  FDU recorded seven team blocks to Ramapo's four. 

Match 2:  Rhode Island defeated Lycoming, 3-0 (31-29, 30-24, 30-24)
Rhode Island's Sharon Corriveau (Conventry, RI) led the team with 13 kills and Garcia and Heard posted 11 and ten respectively in their shut out victory over Lycoming.  Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) and Nicky Enos (Conventry, RI) split the setting duties combining for 38 in the win while Corriveau led the defense with 12 digs.  Lycoming was led by Kelly Rose (Wilkes Barre, PA) with eight kills and Myers dished out 19 assists in the loss. Myers also led the defense with 13 digs and Beth Machella (Mechanicsburg, PA) contributed 11.

Match 3:  Ramapo defeated Rhode Island, 3-2 (30-28, 30-22, 21-30, 21-30, 15-8)
Ramapo finished the night with a 3-2 victory over Rhode Island behind Hennecke with 18 kills.  Taege recorded ten and Cornett contributed 36 assists in the win.  Simmons led the defense with 11 digs.  Rhode Island's Garcia recorded 19 kills and Heard and Corriveau posted 11 and ten respectively.  Souza dished out ten assists in the match.

Match 3: FDU defeated Lycoming, 3-0 (30-21, 30-16, 30-27)
The Devils defeated Lycoming in match three of the night to go undefeated.  FDU was led by SanFilippo who posted seven kills with three digs.  Kuperman dished out 14 assists and recorded five digs in the win while Patty Manhart (Hillsborough, NJ) led the team with 12 digs.  Lycoming's Megan Schulze (Reedsville, PA) and Frantz each recorded seven kills and Myers led the way once again with 25 assists.  Taylor posted 24 digs and Frantz added 23 in the team's loss.
