CINTRON POWERS DOWN 29 IN 3-1 VICTORY OVER RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ:  New Jersey City's senior middle blocker Lizzelle Cintron (Elizabeth, NJ) moved into 11th place for career kills in Division I, II, III tonight as she slammed down 29 to add to her 2,580 in the team's 3-1 (31-29, 23-30, 30-21, 30-16) victory over Ramapo in a NJAC match-up at the Bradley Center in Mahwah.  The Gothic Knights improve to 13-4 overall and 3-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Roadrunners fall to 7-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

After falling behind 29-14, the Gothic Knights went on a seven point rally to take game one, 31-29, after Ramapo's Kaitlin Smith (Westwood, NJ) went down with a knee injury forcing her out of the match.  The Roadrunners fought back to take the second game, 30-23 before NJCU strolled home with game three (30-21) and game four (30-16) earning their 13th victory of the year. 

Cintron wrapped up the night hitting .321 with 13 digs to add to her 29 kills.  Jennifer Carvalho (Rahway, NJ) recorded 11 kills on 34 attempts with five errors hitting .176 while the team went 56-139 with 29 errors (.194).  Alex Johanesen (Bridgewater, NJ) and Nadia DaSilva (Newark, NJ) combined for 50 assists in the win.

Ramapo's Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) recorded a team leading 16 kills while senior setter Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out 34 assists.  Meagan Taege (Manahawkin, NJ) led the defense with 11 digs and defensive specialist Christine Simmons (Upper Saddle River, NJ) added ten.  Ramapo hit .145 on the night with 43 kills on 124 attempts with 25 errors.

The Roadrunners return to action on Friday, September 28th when they host Lycoming FDU, RI in a tri-match-up beginning at 4:00 PM.  NJCU hosts John Jay on September 27th at 7:00 PM.
