Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team improved to 9-4-1 overall today with a 6-0 blanking of the College of Staten Island, 6-0, in a non-conference match-up in Mahwah. CSI falls to 7-5 overall with the loss.
Rookie Melissa Demko (East Brunswick, NJ) posted her ninth goal of the year, unassisted, just over five minutes into the game to give the Roadrunners a 1-0 edge. Senior midfielder Jessica Giordano (Oakland, NJ) gave the Roadrunners a 2-0 lead and Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ) pushed them ahead by three, in goals spanning just short of a minute apart. Both goals were unassisted. Rookie forward Brittany Harraka (Clifton, NJ) rounded out the first half with her fourth goal of the year to head into the intermission, 4-0 over the Dolphins.
Ramapo hit the back of the net two more times in the remaining 45 minutes to defeat the Dolphins, 6-0. Jenny Paglia (Ramsey, NJ) gave Ramapo a five goal lead and Harraka struck once again at 80:13 off an assist by Bruno.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) earns the shut out in the full 90 minutes blocking two CSI shots. Tina Bellocchio (Staten Island, NY) blocked eight Ramapo shots letting up all six goals.
The Roadrunners return to action on Wednesday, October 10th when they travel to Glassboro, NJ to face the Profs of Rowan University
