Union, NJ: The Kean University women's soccer team scored a late second-half goal to earn a 1-0 win over Ramapo College tonight in NJAC action. The Roadrunners move to 3-1-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference while the Cougars improve to 6-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC.
Kean broke the scoreless tie in the 86th minute when Carly Gleason found the back of the net for the eventual game-winner. The Roadrunners had not allowed a goal through their first five games of the season. Ramapo was awarded two penalty kicks in the second half, but Kean goalkeeper Brooke Ginsberg stopped both attempts in the 64th and 87th minute. Ramapo outshot Kean, 26-10, including a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal while holding a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Maher and
Brianna Appello each recorded eight shots while
Gabby Matias posted four saves for the Roadrunners.
Ramapo returns to action on Saturday, October 3rd when they travel to Stockton University for an NJAC match-up at 2:00 PM.
