Women's Soccer

STOCKTON SLIPS BY RAMAPO, 3-2

Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunner women's soccer team fell short, 2-3 today to the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference match-up at the Athletic Center in Mahwah. With the loss, Ramapo falls to 9-6-1 overall, 3-3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Stockton improves to 12-2-1 overall, 4-1-2 in the conference.

The Roadrunners got on the scoreboard at 22:23 to take a 1-0 lead after rookie Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ) forced the goalie to commit to one side and slipped the ball past her on the opposite side, scoring her seventh goal of the season. Just over one minute later the Ospreys answered with a goal of their own tying the game a one goal apiece. Courtney Dougherty (Ocean City, NJ) connected on a pass from Stephanie Anderson (Hackettstown, NJ) notching her fifth goal of the year. Ramapo was awarded a penalty kick at 34:54 and capitalized to take a one-goal edge before Amanda Altman (Beachwood, NJ) netted one for Stockton to head into the intermission knotted at two. Senior Erin Stern (Forked River, NJ) put the penalty kick in the net for Ramapo.

The Ospreys out shot Ramapo 6-4 in the first 45 minutes and again in the second half, 8-3. The game winning goal came just three minutes into the final half of play when Val Davison (Cranbury, NJ) put one past sophomore goalkeeper Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) off an assist from Sharon Davis (Burlington, NJ).

Senior net minder Melissa Stuhler (Williamstown, NJ) posted four saves in the victory while DaRold blocked four Stockton shots.

The Roadrunners will return to action on Wednesday, October 17th when they host CCNY at 4:00 PM.
