Mahwah, NJ:  The Ramapo College women's volleyball team fell short, 3-2 (24-30, 30-20, 24-30, 30-22, 13-15) to the Lady Bears of St. Joe's Brooklyn tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah.  Ramapo falls to 8-6 overall while St. Joe's remains undefeated at 7-0.
The Roadrunners fell behind in game one and were not able to fight back dropping a 30-24 decision and falling behind, 1-0 in a best out of five match-up.  Rookies 
Kaitlin Smith (Westwood, NJ) and 
Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) led Ramapo posting six and five kills respectively while the team posted 13 total on 28 attempts with seven errors.  Ramapo's .214 percentage fell short to the .393 that St. Joe's hit.  The Lady Bears were led by Magalena Wiecik (Queens, NY) posted a team high eight kills in game one.
The Roadrunners fought back taking game two, 30-20 behind Hennecke's and Rochelle Kizhnerman's (Paramus, NJ) combined six kills.  The team hit .273 over St. Joe's .000.  Junior setter 
Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out a team high 11 assists in the win.
St. Joe's grabbed game three to jump ahead 2-1 behind six kills from sophomore middle hitter Tamara Bulatovic (Queens, NY).  Jamie Mascetti (Queens, NY) dished out nine assists and Marena Stadnicka (Brooklyn, NY) led the defense with four digs.
Ramapo evened up the match in game four with an eight point, 30-22 victory.  Smith recorded four kills and Hennecke and 
Juliana DaCosta (Dumont, NJ) contributed three each.  Svetlana Medvedeva (Brooklyn, NY) led the Lady Bears with four kills as her team went 8-25 with seven errors hitting .040 behind Ramapo's 12-27 with eight errors, .148.
In the final game, Ramapo fell behind 4-0 and fought back to tie the game at seven and take control at 12-9.  St. Joe's stood strong and won it, 15-13 with Wiecik posting two kills in the final match-up.  Ramapo's Smith added two of her own in the game five loss.
Totals for the match:  Wiecik led the Lady Bears with 20 kills and nine digs while Medvedeva recorded 14 kills and five total blocks.  Smith led Ramapo with 20 kills and Hennecke and Kizhnerman recorded 13 and 11 respectively.  Cornett finished the night with 45 assists and 
Christine Simmons (Upper Saddle River, NJ) finished with a team high 17 digs.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Saturday, September 30th when they travel to Vassar to face off with New Jersey City University at the Vassar Invitational.  Match time, noon.
