Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team played host to NJAC rival William Paterson University today at the Athletic Center in Mahwah posting a 4-0 victory. Ramapo falls to 4-4-1 overall, 1-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference heading into Saturday's match-up with Kean University at 1:00 PM in Union. The Pioneers improve to 5-4 overall, 2-2 in the conference.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sophomore Amanda Kurdyla (Denville, NJ) dribbled up the middle and drove a shot past junior goalkeeper
Samantha Gribben (Pequannock, NJ) at 19:54. Just under ten minutes later, Laura Conte (Wayne, NJ) threw a ball to Alyson Salvacion (Lodi, NJ) posting the second goal of the game at 28:57 for a 2-0 Pioneer halftime lead.
Gribben blocked one shot in the first half while Jessica Reibis (Jackson, NJ) blocked two of her own for the Pioneers.
In the final half of play, William Paterson got on the scoreboard once again on a second Kurdyla goal at 56:20 off an assist by sophomore midfielder Dana Bertoli (Rockaway, NJ) and Melissa Boka (Hamilton, NJ) gave the Pioneers a 4-0 lead at 60:01 assisted by Annie Willman (Tinton Falls, NJ).
Ramapo's
Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) took over the goalkeeping duties at the 60 minute mark making one save in the final 30 minutes of play. Reibis finished the day with three total saves and Kurdyla moved to the goal for the final eight minutes combining for the 4-0 shutout victory.
