STOCKTONFIGHTS BACK TO DEFEAT RAMAPO, 3-2 IN NJAC VOLLEYBALL ACTION

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team posted a 2-3 (30-27, 30-26, 25-30, 24-30, 7-15) loss to the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah. The Roadrunners fall to 8-4 overall, 0-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference heading into Tuesday's match-up with New Jersey City at 7:00 PM. Richard Stockton improves to 9-4 overall, 3-0 in the conference.

The Roadrunners fell behind four points, 18-22 and took control back to take game one, 30-27. The team was led by rookie Kaitlin Smith (Westwood, NJ) who posted four kills on 12 attempts. Joli Specia (Ringwood, NJ) and Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) followed with three and two kills respectively while junior setter Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out 11 total game one assists. Christine Simmons (Upper Saddle River, NJ) led the defense with nine digs.

Hennecke led the Roadrunners to a 30-26 game two victory posting five kills while Smith added two of her own. Cornett dished out eight assists and Simmons posted six digs.

In game three, the Roadrunners fell behind, 16-21 and fought back to come within two, 20-22, but were unable to take control falling, 25-30 in game three. Ramapo's Hennecke recorded four kills in the loss and Smith posted three. Rochelle Kizhnerman (Paramus, NJ) led the defense with four digs.

The Ospreys took game four from Ramapo, 30-24 forcing a final decision game five. Ramapo's Kizhnerman posted a team leading five kills and six digs in the loss while Hennecke added three kills for the team.

In the final game it was clear that Stockton had complete control jumping ahead 8-5 on the cross over. Stockton's posted a 15-7 game five, and a 3-2 match victory.

In the match, Ramapo hit .145 as a team posting 50 kills on 28 attempts with 28 errors. Hennecke led the way with 15 kills and Smith followed close behind with 14. Cornett wrapped up the night with 38 assists and Simmons posted a team high 24 digs. Kizhnerman and Cornett recorded 14 digs apiece. The Osprey's posted 54 kills on 100 attempts with 36 errors hitting .180 in the win. Amanda Burkart (Cresskill, NJ) led the team with 16 kills on 31 attempts while Audrey O'Donnell (Bogota, NJ) and Nicole Williams (Williamstown, NJ) posted ten kills each. Christine Aletras (Ridgewood, NJ) dished out a team high 48 assists and led the defense with 31 digs. Williams added 25 digs of her own.

The Ospreys return to action on Friday and Saturday as they travel to Salisbury University for a two day tournament.
