FDU FLORHAM TOO MUCH FOR RAMAPO

Devils on top, 3-1

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team played host to the Devils of FDU Florham tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah in a non-conference match-up. The Roadrunners fell, 1-3 (19-30, 30-23, 22-30, 14-30) falling to 8-3 overall heading into next week's match-up with Stockton on Thursday, September 21st at 7:00 PM. FDU improves to 7-4.

In the first game, FDU's Meghan Droge (Merrick, NY) posted four kills on seven attempts with no errors leading her team to a 30-19 game one victory. Megan Redd (Lakewood, CO) added three kills and Lindsey Flora (Secaucus, NJ) dished out seven assists. For the Roadrunners, rookie Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) led the way with four kills of her own and Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out 11 assists. The Devils hit .310 as a team well above the Roadrunners .054. Defensive specialist Michelle Ayvas (Wood-Ridge, NJ) posted eight digs in the loss.

In game two, Ramapo took the lead early on and held on earning a 30-23 win. Kaitlin Smith (Westwood, NJ) led the way in game two with six kills while Hennecke followed once again with four. Cornett dished out 13 assists in the seven point win. Redd posted five kills for the Devils while the team posted 15 together hitting .257 to Ramapo's .406.

The Devils grabbed game three, 30-22 hitting .361 as a team over Ramapo's .286. Droge and Redd recorded five kills each and Flora posted 13 assists. Smith led the Roadrunners with seven kills and Cornett posted 11 assists.

The Devils took the final game, 30-14, earning the 3-1 match victory. The team hit .481 led by Redd with nine kills and only one error on 11 attempts. Flora added 13 assists and Holly Farricy (Millis, MA) recorded a team leading four digs. Hennecke added another four kills in the final game while Smith posted one block.

Redd finished on top of the Devils with 22 kills while Droge followed with 14 of her own. Christa SanFillippo (Spring, TX) posted eight in the win and Michelle Yered (Millis, MA) added seven of her own. Ashley Flora (Secaucus, NJ) was on top of the dig category posting 17 total while Farricy added 14 for the team. L. Flora recorded 46 assists. FDU hit .346 for the match with 59 kills on 127 attempts with 15 errors.

For the Roadrunners, Smith and Hennecke recorded 17 and 15 respectively while Cornett finished the night with 42 assists. The team went 48-126 with 20 errors hitting .222 in the loss.
