Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 (30-10, 30-18, 30-10) shutout victory over CCNY tonight in their 2006 season opener in Mahwah. The Roadrunners stand at 1-0 overall and will host a Skyline/NJAC Challenge on Sunday, September 3, 2006.
Ramapo posted a 30-10 first game victory behind
Maureen Hennecke (Fair Lawn, NJ) and
Joli Specia (Ringwood, NJ) who recorded five kills each. Hennecke hit .667 while Specia posted a .300 hitting percentage.
Ashley Cornett (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out a team high 11 assists in game one and led the defense with five digs. In game two, 30-18,
Kristen Semeniak (East Brunswick, NJ) led the way with six kills and
Alyssa Sullivan (Wayne, NJ) dished out a team high ten assists.
Ramapo's Specia led the team in the match with eight total kills and Hennecke followed with seven. Cornett led the way with 21 assists and Michele McKenna (Rutherford, NJ) led the defense with seven digs.
For the Beavers, Johanna Ortiz (Long Land, NY) and Yesenia Martinez (New York, NY) each led the team with three kills apiece and Jesselyn Villanueve (Queens, NY) dished out a team high seven assists.
