RAMAPO’S DONOHUE LEADS ROADRUNNERS TO 3-0 VICTORY OVER YORK

Mahwah, NJ: The Roadrunners' men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 (30-24, 30-23, 30-21) victory over the Cardinals of York College tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah. Ramapo improves to 20-7 overall while York falls to 10-12 on the year.

Ramapo took game one 30-24 behind sophomore Brendan Whitford (Lyndhurst, NJ) who posted four kills on five attempts with no errors. Rookie Shane Donohue (Freehold Twp., NJ) and senior Alex Likhovidov (Ringwood, NJ) followed with three kills each while junior setter Jordan Roldan (Jersey City, NJ) dished out a team high ten assists. Keron Bernard, Lezsek Stankiewicz, and Ryan Reid led the Cardinals with three kills each and Kenny Jang contributed ten assists. The Roadrunners hit .240 as a team with 12 kills on 25 attempts with six errors while the Cardinals posted 13 kills with ten errors on 34 attempts hitting .088 as a team.

The Roadrunners followed with a game two, 30-23 victory in the best of five match-up with Donohue and Whitford each posting seven kills and Nicholas Kalbach (Old Bridge, NJ) putting down two assisted blocks. Jairo Sierra (Fair Lawn, NJ) stepped in to take over setting duties tallying 13 in the game win. Rookie Dan Sempkowski (East Brunswick, NJ) posted a team leading three digs in game two.

The Roadrunners wrapped up the night with a 30-21 game three win for the 3-0 shut out victory behind Donohue who added six kills in the win with two errors on nine attempts. Sierra dished out ten assists and Richard Alvardo (West New York, NJ) posted three digs.

For the match, Donohue led the way with 16 kills while Whitford followed with 13. Likhovidov wrapped up the night with seven of his own and Sierra, Kalbach, and J Steinhauer (West Windsor, NJ) each added three in the win. Sierra led the way with 23 assists and Whitford led the defense with six digs. Kalbach and WHitford posted five total blocks while Donohue followed with four. Ramapo hit .261 in the win with 45 kills on 88 attempts with 22 errors. The Cardinals hit .057 in the loss.

Ramapo returns to action on Wednesday, March 15th when they travel to New Jersey City University for a NECVA rival rematch at 8:00 PM. The Roadrunners fell to NJCU just last week, 2-3.
