RAMAPO FALLS 79-76 IN OVERTIME IN NJAC MATCH-UP

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's basketball team played host to NJAC rival Richard Stockton College at the Bradley Center today in Mahwah in a must win match-up to continue their season in the NJAC Championship Tournament. The Roadrunners posted a tough 79-76 loss in overtime falling to 16-9 overall, 9-9 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Ospreys improve to 17-8 overall, 12-6 in the conference.

In the first 20 minutes of play, Stockton opened to a seven point lead to start the game behind Tobias Smith (Newark, NJ) and Mario Lancioni (Runnemede, NJ) who posted Stockton's first seven points in the opening three minutes. Ramapo finally got on the board at 15:52 with a good jumper from sophomore Shawn Frost (Newark, NJ). The Roadrunners watched the Ospreys take a nine point lead with 13:58 left to play and fought back to come within two at the 12:04 minute mark before Stockton took control once again and outscored Ramapo 11-3 in the next seven minutes to grab a ten point lead for the second time in the game. The Roadrunners spent the final minutes chipping away at the Osprey's lead capping off the first half with a three pointer at 00:09 by Ahmad Mosby (Jersey City, NJ) to tie the game, and a good jumper by senior Quameir Harding (Jersey City, NJ) off an offensive board to take a 32-30 halftime lead.

Harding, the leading steal man in the nation, posted four first half steals hitting 100 for the year. Mosby was the leading scorer for Ramapo in the half with 13 and Harding added eight for the team. Stockton's Smith hit 3-10 from the field and 4-4 from the line for 11 first half points. The Roadrunners shot 12-31 (39%) behind Stockton's 10-25 (40%).

After a strong start for the Roadrunners in the second half, jumping ahead by eight, Stockton sparked a nine point run to regain the lead, 45-42 with 12:46 left to play. Antoine Pryor (Elizabeth, NJ) answered the run with a three-pointer to tie the game at 45. Smith answered Pryor to take the lead again with a three-point basket of his own and John Wojcik (Sayreville, NJ) and Pryor hit back-to-back threes for a 51-48 Ramapo lead. In the final ten minutes of the game, the lead changed five times and the game was tied four times making for an exciting finish in a do-or-die match-up for the Roadrunners. With a last shot opportunity for the Roadrunners with just over 30 seconds on the clock, the team was unable to capitalize forcing overtime in Mahwah.

Stockton outscored Ramapo, 17-14 in the overtime period taking the game, 79-76. Pryor finished the game on top for the Roadrunners with 20 points while Mosby followed with 17 and Harding netted 16. Harding grabbed six steals in the loss while pulling down a team high eight boards. For the Ospreys, Smith sunk 30 points and Jon Greene (Wildwood, NJ) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Kevin Holmes (Atlantic City, NJ) recorded 16 in the win hitting 5-10 from the field. The Ospreys shot 43% in the game and Ramapo followed close behind hitting 40% of their shots in the win.

Despite the loss, Ramapo advances to the NJAC Tournament as the #6 seed. Ramapo will travel to NJCU on Tuesday, February 21st for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
