RAMAPO VS. STEVENS

STEVENS EDGES RAMAPO, 3-1 IN A NECVA METRO MATCH-UP IN MAHWAH

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team played host to NECVA Metro rival Stevens Institute tonight at the Bradley Center falling short 1-3 (27-30, 30-22, 30-22, 30-27). Ramapo falls to 10-2 on the year, 4-2 in the NECVA Metro Conference while Stevens improves to 12-7 overall, remaining undefeated at 4-0 in the conference.

The Roadrunners grabbed game one of the match-up with a two point 30-28 victory behind rookie Shane Donohue (Freehold Twp, NJ) who posted five kills on eight attempts with one error. David Ross (Perth Amboy, NJ), Jairo Sierra (Fair Lawn, NJ), and J Steinhauer (West Windsor, NJ) all recorded three kills in the game while Sierra dished out a team-high 11 assists. For the Ducks, rookie Andrew Cranford (Bel Air, MD) led the way with four kills while Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, CA) posted nine assists leading the way. Schulte and Brian Carlson (West Seneca, NY) led the Ducks' defense with three digs apiece.

In game two, Stevens pulled away and took the game by eight, 30-22, with Will Foley (Clifton Park, NY) leading the way hitting .800 with four kills on five attempts with no errors. As a team, Stevens out hit Ramapo .316 to .111 killing 11 in the eight point win. Ramapo's Donohue led the Roadrunners with six kills and Sierra posted 13 assists.

The Ducks took the third game in the best of five with a second eight point win, 30-22 behind Foley, Sean Whelan (Springfield, Mass.), and Cranford who each posted three kills. The team hit a combined .333 totaling 14 kills while Ramapo's Donohue led once again with four kills and Ross added three. Ramapo hit .097 in the loss with Sierra dishing out ten assists.
