WOJCIK SINKS SIX THREE-POINTERS IN COME-FROM-BEHIND VICTORY OVER ROWAN

Mahwah, NJ: In a NJAC match-up in Mahwah, the Ramapo College men's basketball team posted a 83-73 decision over the Profs of Rowan University improve to 6-1 overall, 2-1 in the conference. Rowan falls to 3-2 overall, 0-1 in the conference.

In the first half of play, Ramapo hit only 12 baskets on 34 attempts, 35%, while Rowan sunk 18-33, 55%, to take a 47-42 halftime lead. Billy Care (Linwood, NJ) and Thomas Baker (Millville, NJ) hit double digits points, 11 and ten respectively, for the Profs hitting a combined 9-14. Rowan forced six Ramapo turnovers while out rebounding Ramapo, 27-13. Rowan spread their lead to as many as 14 leading 46-32 with 1:25 left to play. Ramapo's John Wojcik (Sayreville, NJ) closed out the half hitting back-to-back three-pointers to come within four, before a last second foul where Rowan's Rahim Shiver (Cherry Hill, NJ) knocked in the first of a two shot foul to end the half five points ahead of the Roadrunners.

With 13:20 left to play, Ramapo took the lead, 60-59, on two good free throws by Antoine Pryor (Elizabeth, NJ) after out scoring Rowan, 22-12 in the opening minutes of the half. Wojcik hit his fifth three-pointer of the game and Omar Alston (Carteret, NJ) followed with one good free throw to take a 63-59 edge. Ramapo finished the second half with a 6-1 run sparked by Tim Wesley (Jersey City NJ) to take the game by ten, 83-73.

Wojcik finished the night with 21 points sinking 6-13 all three-pointers, including a perfect 3-3 from the line while Alston led the way with 24 points shooting 10-15. Wesley netted 16 and grabbed three steals while Ahmad Mosby (Jersey City, NJ) grabbed a team high four steals of his own. The Roadrunners finished the night sinking 28-65 (43%) while Rowan knocked in 28 of their own on 62 attempts (45%). For the Profs, Baker finished with 16 points and Care and Shiver were held to none in the final 20 minutes wrapping up the game with 11 and ten respectively. Shiver pulled down a team high nine rebounds in the loss.

The Roadrunners return to action on Monday, December 11th when they travel to Baruch for a non-conference match-up at 8:00 PM while the Profs host the Heritage Dairy Store's Classic on Friday and Saturday, December 8th and 9th.
