Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team hosted NJAC rival Montclair State today at the Athletic Center in Mahwah in the final game of the 2006 season. Ramapo finishes the year at 8-9-2 overall, 2-7 in the conference with a 3-0 loss to the Red Hawks. Montclair improves to 12-5-2 overall, 6-1-2 in the conference.
The game remained scoreless until the 29th minute when senior defender Justine Barbato (East Brunswick, NJ) followed her own shot that deflected off the keeper and hit a second one past junior goalkeeper
Samantha Gribben (Pequannock, NJ) to take a 1-0 lead. With just under five minutes to go in the half, Montclair capitalized on their first corner kick of the game when rookie Natalia Sisti (Lincoln Park, NJ) connected with Kelly Dutko (Hamilton, NJ) posting her 15th goal of the year. The rookie recorded her 16th goal in the final 45 minutes of play when she dribbled up the right side and slid the ball into the net for a 3-0 Montclair edge at 64:10. The score held for the final minutes earning Montclair their 12th win of the year.
The Red Hawks out-shot Ramapo 7-6 while senior goal minder Kristin Kuhmann (Beachwood, NJ) earns the shutout posting four saves in the full 90 minutes. Gribben blocked three shots letting up all three goals in the loss.
Montclair is currently 2nd in NJAC standings and awaits news on seedings at the conclusion of today's match-ups
