ROWAN POSTS 3-1 NJAC VICTORY OVER RAMAPO

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's soccer team played host to conference rival Rowan University today in Mahwah posting a 3-1 loss falling to 5-6-2 overall and 1-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Profs remain undefeated at 12-0-2 overall and 3-0-2 in the conference.

Rowan jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Jenna Balestriere (Scotch Plains, NJ) ripped a shot past rookie goalkeeper Jessica DaRold (Sayreville, NJ) at 11:30 minute mark. Sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Florio (Ocean City, NJ) connected on a pass from Jackie Kane (Avenel, NJ) at 31:29 taking a two goal edge. Rowan out-shot Ramapo 6-3 in the first 45 minutes. DaRold posted one save and Gabrielle Ditchey (Mt. Laurel, NJ) recorded one of her own.

In the second half, Kane charged the goal after a deflected shot off junior goalkeeper Samantha Gribben (Pequannack, NJ) and gave the Profs a 3-0 lead at 53:29. Ramapo got on the scoreboard with just under four minutes left in the game when senior Amy Ketchersid (Pt. Pleasant, NJ) was fouled inside the 18-yard box. Senior Meghan Farrell (Monroe Twp., NJ) capitalized on the awarded penalty kick closing the gap 3-1. The Profs held on in the final minutes earning the 3-1 victory.

Rowan finished the day with 13 shots, nine on goal, over Ramapo's six, four on goal. Ditchey posted three saves in the 90 minutes while Gribben posted five in the second half for Ramapo.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday, October 14th when they travel to Richard Stockton for a NJAC conference match-up starting at 1:00 PM while the Profs host Rutgers Newark at 1:00 PM.
