RAMAPO RALLIES PAST KEAN, 109-106 IN OT

Union, N.J. – (1/25/06) Ramapo College's John Wojcik (Sayreville, N.J.) knocked down a jumper in the lane with nine seconds left in regulation to tie the game and the Roadrunners converted 8-of-14 free throws in overtime to rally past Kean University, 109-106 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) men's basketball action on Wednesday evening. The loss snaps the Cougars five game winning streak and drops them to 8-9 overall and 5-6 in the NJAC, while the Roadrunners improved to 14-4 and 7-4 in conference play.

In a very physical contest the Cougars controlled the play for most of the game. There were 109 free throws, 68 personal fouls and six players foul out.

Kean held a 43-41 lead at the half and extended that lead to 12-points with six minutes left. Moreover, KU had eight point lead with just 2:52 remaining, but that advantage was quickly eliminated as Ramapo battled back. Eventually the Roadrunners took the lead for the first time in the second half when they converted four straight free throws off and foul and a technical with 1:17 left in the game, which gave RC a 95-93 lead. Kean's Brian Miller (Piscataway, N.J.) knocked down four free throws on the Cougars next two possessions to give Kean a two-point lead with 40 seconds left.

In overtime, Ramapo never trailed and they seized control of the game with seven trips to the foul line and a basket apiece from Ahmed Mosby (Jersey City, N.J.) and Timothy Wesley (Jersey City, N.J.)

Overall in the game, Kean had a season-high six players score in double figures. Bryan Keller (Trenton, N.J.) had a team-high 21 points and five rebounds, while Miller and Lamar Wright (Galloway, N.J.) each had 18 points. Senior BJ Hamby (Bridgewater, N.J.) had 14 points and Armet Coles, Jr. (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Jonathan Oliver (Galloway, N.J.) chipped in with 13 points apiece.

For the Roadrunners, Wojcik had just one basket, while six Ramapo players scored in double figures. Rashawn Wilson (Jersey City, N.J.) had 21 points and nine rebounds, Mosby added 20 points and Mike Malko (Hillsborough, N.J.) knocked down 10-of-12 free throws in the win.
