ROADRUNNERS DOWN RUTGERS CAMDEN BEHIND WEJNERT
Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College women's volleyball team defeated the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers Camden tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah, 3-0 (30-11, 30-22, 30-12). The Roadrunners improve to 8-5 overall, 1-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while Rutgers Camden falls to 0-5 overall, 0-3 in the conference.
Senior middle SAMANTHA WEJNERT (Paramus, NJ ) led the Roadrunners posting 12 kills on 23 attempts with four errors hitting .348. WEJNERT recorded eight service aces and one solo block leading the team to their eighth win of the year. Sophomore setter ASHLEY CORNETT (Hawthorne, NJ) dished out a team high 26 assists and rookie setter AMANDA NOLASCO (Union, NJ) added three of her own. Ramapo's defense was led by junior captain LISA TOTARO (Secaucus, NJ) who posted ten digs while REBECCA STRANG (Rockaway, NJ) and NOLASCO added eight digs each. The Roadrunners recorded a combined 34 kills on 96 attempts with 22 errors hitting .125 while Rutgers Camden posted nine kills with 23 errors on 82 attempts hitting -.171.
The Scarlet Raptors were led by Karla Maisto (Voorhees, NJ) with five kills while Julie Grochowski (Williamstown, NJ) added three. Nikki Cosico (Sewell, NJ) dished out a team high seven assists and Grochowski led the defense with 17 digs in the loss.
The Roadrunners will host Kean University on Tuesday, September 27th at 7:00 PM
