NJCU CRUISES BY RAMAPO BEHIND CINTRON
Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College women's volleyball team played host to New Jersey City University tonight in their 2005 home opener and fell short 0-3 (22-30, 16-30, 24-30). Ramapo falls to 7-5 overall, 0-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while NJCU improves to 5-4 overall, 1-0 in the conference.
The Gothic Knights pulled out ahead in game one and never looked back the entire match dropping the Roadrunners, 3-0 at the Bradley Center in Mahwah. Sophomore Lizzelle Cintron (Newark, NJ ) led the Gothic Knight posting 15 kills on 26 attempts with only two errors. Cintron contributed six digs and six total blocks while adding one assist in the victory. Jacqueline LeBlanc (Westfield, NJ) followed with 12 kills on 30 attempts with five errors hitting .233 while Meagan Roberts (Union, NJ) recorded nine kills of her own on 17 attempts with three errors hitting .353. Glorinell Perez (Elizabeth, NJ) and Sarah Torres (Elizabeth, NJ) each added five kills while Perez led the defense posting 13 digs. LeBlanc added ten kills of her own. Rookie setter Sofia Gutierrez (Piscataway, NJ) and sophomore setter Nadia DaSilva (Newark, NJ) combined for 37 assists contributing 20 and 17 respectively. The Gothic Knights hit .248 with 47 kills on 117 attempts with 18 errors.
For the Roadrunners, senior SAMANTHA WEJNERT (Paramus, NJ) posted ten kills leading the way while rookie ROCHELLE KIZHNERMAN (Paramus, NJ) and LISA FISCHMAN (Bloomfield, NJ) recorded five each. Sophomore setter ASHLEY CORNETT (Hawthorne, NJ) led the team dishing out 23 assists and REBECCA STRANG (Rockaway, NJ) led the defense posting seven digs. The Roadrunners hit .019 recording 27 kills on 107 attempts with 25 errors.
Ramapo will host Rutgers Camden on Thursday, September 22nd for a 7:00 PM start.
