Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College men's volleyball team defeated Philadelphia Biblical tonight at the Bradley Center in Mahwah, 3-2 (20-30, 30-24, 30-18, 25-30, 15-13). The Roadrunners improve to 22-13 overall while the Crimson Eagles fall to 13-14.
The Roadrunners fell, 20-30 in game one before taking the next two, 30-24 and 30-18, and the Crimson Eagles fought back to take game four, 30-25 forcing a game five. Ramapo posted ten kills on 21 attempts with three errors in he fifth earning a 15-13 victory, and a 3-2 match win over PBU.
The Roadrunners were led by rookie DAVID ROSS (Perth Amboy, NJ ) with 21 kills on 45 attempts with eight errors while junior ALEX LIKHOVIDOV (Ringwood, NJ ) and rookie BRENDAN WHITFORD (Lyndhurst, NJ ) followed with 15 and 14 kills respectively. ROSS led the defense with 17 digs and LIKHOVIDOV recorded 14. Senior RYAN HOWELL (Bridgewater, NJ ) recorded 11 digs and added eight kills in the win. Junior setter HECTOR RODRIGUEZ (West New York, NJ ) and sophomore setter JORDAN ROLDAN (Jersey City, NJ ) combined for 67 assists while HOWELL and senior middle blocker JERRY ROMAN (West New York, NJ ) each posted four blocks. The Roadrunners hit .216 with 74 kills on 167 attempts and 38 errors.
The Crimson Eagles were led by senior Jade Brubaker (Telford, PA ) with 21 kills on 56 attempts and ten errors. Jathan Brubaker (Telford, PA ) posted 14 kills and junior Richie Sparling (Ottsville, PA ) dished out a team-high 40 assists. The team hit .177 with 50 kills on 147 attempts and 24 errors.
The Roadrunners will host Hunter on Saturday, April 2nd at noon.
