Mahwah , NJ : The Ramapo College men's basketball team hosted the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers Newark tonight at the Bill Bradley Sports and Recreation Center in Mahwah. The Roadrunners improve to 19-2 overall, 12-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference while the Scarlet Raiders fall to 13-9 overall, 6-7 in the conference.
The Roadrunners jumped out to a double-digit lead with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half of play behind sophomore RASHAWN WILSON (Jersey City, NJ ) who netted ten points. Senior guard AMIN WRIGHT (Jersey City, NJ ) posted seven of his own while the pair shot a combined 8-15 from the field. The team shot 16-31 (51%) over Rutgers Newark 8-27 (30%) wrapping up the first half 14 points over the Scarlet Raiders, 36-22.
In the last twenty minutes, the Roadrunners spread the gap to 38 by the 9:08 mark and finished the game 29 points over Rutgers Newark, 73-44. Ramapo held Rutgers Newark to only seven points in the first 12 minutes of the second half. WRIGHT and sophomore transfer TODD LOWBER (Riverside, NJ ) finished the game with 14 points each while WILSON wrapped up the night with 12. WILSON grabbed nine boards while WRIGHT led the team with five steals in the win. For the Scarlet Raiders, Chinedu Ibeh (Colonia, NJ ) led the way with 13 points shooting 5-9 while Justin Carter (Paterson, NJ ) added 11 points and four rebounds in the loss. The Roadrunners finished up the game shooting 32-60 (53%) over the Scarlet Raiders 14-43 (33%).
Ramapo will travel to Rowan University on Saturday, February 12th for a 3:00 PM start while Rutgers Newark will host The College of New Jersey at 3:00 PM.
