#4 STEVENS KNOCKS OFF #14 RAMAPO, 3-0

Mahwah, NJ: The Ramapo College men's volleyball team played host to the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology and the Fighting Blue Jays of Polytechnic at the Bradley Center today in Mahwah. Ramapo dropped a 3-0 (25-30, 15-30, 25-30) decision to Stevens before dropping Polytechnic, 3-0 (30-14, 30-24, 30-28). Stevens defeated Polytechnic, 3-0 (30-19, 30-13, 30-25) in the second match-up of the day. Ramapo now stands at 15-7 overall, 4-2 in the NECVA Metro conference while Stevens improves to 14-6 overall, 6-0 NECVA Metro and Polytechnic falls to 4-12 overall, 1-5 in the conference.

Match #1: Stevens 3 - Ramapo 0
Steven's junior outside hitter Chris Bock (Empangeri, South Africa) led the way posting ten kills on 17 attempts with four errors hitting .353 while Brian Woodworth (San Jose, CA) recorded nine kills on 12 attempts with no errors in Steven's 3-0 win over Ramapo. Christian Latoja (Jersey City, NJ) added six kills on nine attempts with two errors while rookie setter Steven Strollo (Nesconset, NY) dished out a team-high 31 assists in the win. Defensive specialist Ranole Beng (Parsippany, NJ) led the defense posting eight digs and Scott Stoner (Wantagh, NY) recorded a team-high seven blocks and four service aces. Steven's as a team hit .299 recording 42 kills on 77 attempts with 19 errors. For the Roadrunners, rookie outside hitter DAVID ROSS (Perth Amboy, NJ) led the team with 11 kills on 28 attempts while junior ALEX LIKHOVIDOV (Ringwood, NJ) recorded six kills on 18 attempts with four errors. HECTOR RODRIGUEZ (Jersey City, NJ) and JORDAN ROLDAN (Jersey City, NJ) combined for 27 assists and rookie BRENDAN WHITFORD (Lyndhurst, NJ) led the defense with six digs.

Match #2: Stevens 3 - Polytechnic 0
The Ducks defeated the Fighting Blue Jays posting a 3-0 (30-19, 30-13, 30-25) shut out victory led by Carlson with 16 kills, six digs, and one ace. Shane Pierson (Newbury Park, CA) recorded nine kills and led the defense with 14 digs while sophomore setter Michael Schulte (San Bernardino, CA) dished out 48 assists and added three digs. For the Fighting Blue Jays, Michael Kelly led the way with ten kills and one ace while David Furniss posted five kills and added four digs and You-Yu Lee posted four kills with one dig and one assist in the loss.

Match #3: Ramapo 3 - Polytechnic 0
Ramapo's JERRY ROMAN (West New York, NJ) led the team posting nine kills on 12 attempts with only one error in the team 3-0 shut out victory over Polytechnic. THOMAS LANZA (South Brunswick, NJ) posted seven kills on 19 attempts while NICK KALBACH (Old Bridge, NJ) posted five of his own. ROLDAN and RODRIGUEZ combined for 34 assists and LIKHOVIDOV dropped in four service aces in the win. For Polytechnic, Furniss and Kelly each added eight kills while Zach Emnett dished out a team-high 21 assists. Emnett led the defense with seven digs and Kelly added three blocks. The Roadrunners hit .173 with 43 kills on 104 attempts while Polytechnic went -.035 with 23 kills on 86 attempts with 26 errors.

The Roadrunners will travel to Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday, March 1st for a NECVA Metro match-up starting at 7:00 PM.
